It is the second-largest automaker in the Americas (behind General Motors) and the fifth-largest in the world based on 2015 vehicle production. The company sells vehicles under its Ford marque, as well as luxury cars under its Lincoln brand. Ford also owns Brazilian SUV manufacturer Troller, an 8% stake in Aston Martin of the United Kingdom, and a 49% stake in Jiangling Motors a Chinese auto maker. It also has joint-ventures in China (Changan Ford), Taiwan (Ford Lio Ho), Thailand (AutoAlliance Thailand), Turkey (Ford Otosan), and Russia (Ford Sollers). Several of its vehicles – especially those based on Ford's V8 and V6 petrol engines – are globally recognized by their model names, such as: Mustang, F-Series (Ford), Everest (Ford), Explorer (Ford), Transit Connect (Ford) and Super Duty (Ford). He had previously worked on engines for two Detroit automobile firms, and soon became chief engineer at Detroit Automobile Company (later known as Marion-Ford). Under the business names Detroit Automobile Company and American Automobile Company (AACo), Pope developed several models that launched Ford into automobile production itself. From 1909 into the mid-1930s, most Ford cars and trucks were built in the United States. From 1909 to 1913, Ford gradually replaced horse drivers with mechanized conveyances. In 1911, the Ford Motor Company was incorporated in Michigan and produced its first vehicle, the Model T car. In 1927, automaker John D. Hertz founded the Little Park Garage in New York City under a franchise agreement with Henry Ford.
