In the initial stages of his life, he is shown to be a happy-go-lucky guy who loves bike rides and often hangs out with his younger brother. He falls in love with Rinku Sen Sharma when he was in college and stays in touch with her up to the present time when she is in her mid thirties (mid twenty). The plot starts off with him thwarting Tanuja's marriage which leads to her falling into depression. He then meets Anshuman again who helps him get to know Tanuja's life after which he later dies.
