In the early stages of the game, most items are easily obtainable from fallen enemies or from their drops. The lowest-level gear in the game is not too effective or useful when given to a low-level character. However, a player can acquire better equipment in the mid levels of the game by either buying it from a vendor or using a mod's item ID. Weapon types include melee weapons (like swords and clubs), two-handed weapons (like fists and maces), ranged weapons (pistols and bows), and magic (magic wands). Armor types include helmets, shirts, pants, boots, gloves, shields, and vests. Additionally there are several types of equipment that have no inherent use. Potions are an item that can be used for various effects ranging from health regeneration to being able to walk on water. The Wall Mount serves as an alternate means of transportation in some areas where it is otherwise impossible to travel by airship. There are different colored orbs that are found scattered around the world of Terraria. When they are all placed together into a ring they will turn into a portal.
